Change For The Meter?
Change.
Change makes something different from what it is or from what it would be if left alone.
Isn’t that how we feel sometimes? I just wish things would be left as they are. If not forever, just a little while longer.
I have seen a lot of change in my life and the lives of others: lives changed by money, moves, marriage, children, divorce, jobs, religion and parents. I’ve seen people changed by accidents, death of loved ones, age, bad choices, heartache and “finding” or not “finding” God.
Some of us handle change better than others and I have to admit, most times I don’t mind change. But it seems the older I get and the more things I “get in place” in my life the harder it is to let those things change. If it’s in place, I know where it is. I know the circumstances that surround it. I know how to handle anything that comes along.
When change in the road occurs, whether I saw it coming or not, it’s still an adjustment. Sometimes the adjustment is easier if I have seen the road before, but somehow it’s still always an adjustment. Adjustment of what? Adjustment of only one thing: My perspective of the road.
My perspective affects the destiny of the change. I have a choice. I can embrace what is in front of me and work with the new scenery that’s coming, or I can fight to go back and take a path, that in reality, is no longer an option. Honestly, there are times I am stuck at the fork in the road. I know that embracing the change would be the right option, but I get frozen with fear when I see the fork. It is only me that is holding “different” back.
For me personally, it is in those times that I turn to the only thing I know that does not change. My God.
It is in my frozen fear that I ask for help. And He whispers all of His Promises to me filling my life’s meter so I will never run out of hope.
I am your Shelter, your Refuge, your very Present Help in time of need. I hold you and your future in the Palm of My Hand. Don’t be afraid because I will give you everything you need. I want to prosper you not harm you. I will never leave you. I do not change.
And with one brave foot, and a Heavenly nudge, I move forward. One foot at a time, one day at a time.
Malachi 3:6 (NIV) “I the Lord do not change.”
BUMPER STICKER OF THE DAY: “Go to the the Great Banker if you need a little help with change.”
