A Personal Relationship with God

How to find peace and purpose through a

personal relationship with God.

God loves you and wants to have a personal relationship with you.  But because we are sinners, we have been separated from him, and our relationship with him is broken and empty.  It is for this reason that we continue to crave something to fill that void we find in each of our lives.  Regardless of what we try to fill that void with, whether a profession, status, fortune, or people, we still feel lost and dissatisfied.  We were created to fill the void with the all-loving and all-perfect God who knows us best.  When we do, we are made whole, receive peace beyond imagination, and over time learn from Him what our purpose in life is.

However, our sin is so great that no matter what we try to do to get closer to God, we can never fully pay for our sins or mend that union with him on our own.  But God knew that, and he loved us so much that he sent his one and only perfect Son Jesus Christ to pay the penalty for our sins, once and for all, and to restore our relationship with Him.  Even more, he raised Christ from the dead to show us his power over death and the power he would give us once we believe and receive his Holy Spirit for ourselves.

If we want to have our relationship with God mended once and forever, we must trust Jesus Christ’s sacrifice for us on the cross and receive Him into our lives by personal surrender and invitation.

How to Receive Jesus Christ

God is always listening.  All you need to do is speak to him with all your heart and through prayer:

  1. Admit your sin and need for forgiveness and peace. (Romans 3:10, 23; 6:23; 10:13)
  2. Believe and trust that Jesus Christ died for your sins and rose again from the grave. (Romans 5:8; John 3:16; 14:6; 1:12; Romans 10:9)
  3. Confess with your mouth that Jesus is your Lord. (Romans 10:9, 10)
